Ukraine will return 1.4 billion cubic metres of Russian gas used in January-February in summer period during pumping gas into underground gas depositories (UGD). That’s what the prime-minister of Ukraine Yulia Tymoshenko informed today at the press conference in Kyiv.

According to her, all gas used By Ukraine in 2008 will be bought by 179.5 billion per cubic metre.

“We have taken Russian gas to the credit and we will return it in summer. We will return it with gas from Central Asia”, - the prime minister informed.

At the same time, according to the head of “Naftohaz Ukrainy” Oleh Dubyna, “Naftohaz Ukrainy” and “Gazprom” have signed a technical agreement on the way and terms of returning 1.4 billion cubic metres of gas used in January and February. In particular, according to him, we will return 700 million cubic metres of gas in the second quarter and 700 million cubic metres in the third one.

Ms. Tymoshenko also informed that the signed agreement between “Naftohaz Ukrainy” and “Gazprom” fully provides Ukraine with gas balance.
