“To my mind, Ukraine had to state firmly its position on Kosovo. And the statement should have been in the UNO statute’s group”, - MP from the OU – PSD faction Yuri Karmazin said in the VR’s lobby.

“An autonomy cannot separate a state. We had to state that. And it is the Foreign Ministry’s omission that it hasn’t made a statement. It is an attempt to balance, To please the Americans. We don’t have to please anyone – either the Americans or the Russians. We have to follow our own policy. Yes, our policy in the issue coincide with the Russian one, for it is a sensible view of the things happened. Just have a look how the European countries recognized. They disregarded the UNO statute”, - the MP said.

Yuri Karmazin also spoke on the Actions plan: “I consider myself one of those who proposed in 1996 part 7 of the paragraph 17 of the Constitution of Ukraine which states: “location of foreign military bases on the territory of Ukraine is not permitted”. Along with that we treat the same both American bases and Russian ones. Neither the first nor the second can be located on the territory of Ukraine”.

Along with that Mr. Karmazin reminded that “the Actions plan on NATO membership is implementing the law of 2003. It’s not the very membership for the membership requires a referendum”.
