«Authors of the draft law are trying to deprive the Constitutional Court of the right to estimate the political reform’s legitimacy for the second time. It has been done for the first time in August 2006, when the Verkhovna Rada banned the Constitutional Court to review the constitutional changes that had been introduced on Dec. 4, 2004» – a member of party Council of «Our Ukraine» Ihor Zhdanov said in his interview to «Delo» newspaper.
According to him, we should pay attention to the changes to the law «About the Constitutional Court». «These changes concern the CC’s right to examine introduction of constitutional changes that had been put into effect.»
»Under this draft law, the president may appeal to the Constitutional Court to pronounce the cabinet’s decree unconstitutional within 15 days. But I remind that the Constitution does not fix any term for the president to make such appeal» – he added.
