«Acting under the allegedly authoritarian Constitution of 1996, Mr. Yushchenko ensured democratic parliamentary elections without prosecutions that had happened in 2004. The Constitution was changed. We have an authoritarian government that has usurped the power» – the Our Ukraine faction leader V. Kyrylenko said in the air of Inter TV channel.

According to him, neither the Constitution of 1996, nor the Constitution of 2004 is perfect. «We shouldn’t come back to the Constitution of 1996. The new text is to ensure power balance in Ukraine» – he emphasized.

Mr. Kyrylenko added that the president offered to create a constitutional committee and discuss contradictions of the Constitution. «Constitutional changes the president offers will balance the power of all three branches and will prevent permanent debates whom certain power belongs – he stressed. – Nowadays the government is trying to get uncontrolled power».
