Having invited the Turkmen opposition, Mykola Rudkovskyi set a dangerous precedent that every minister could follow his own foreign policy that differed from the president’s and government’s policy. That’s what people’s deputy Kseniya Lyapina said in the air of the TV programme «Svoboda slova» («Freedom of speech») on ICTV TV channel on Friday.
»First and foremost it is harmful for Ukraine’s image» – she added.
»I fully support democratic standards – Ms Lyapina emphasized. – I am convinced that the BYuT and the Our Ukraine party may invite opposition from any country. And the power of these countries, non-democratic, even totalitarian ones, will accept that. We are not in power. They will know that either MPs either NGOs invite their opposition. But if a ministers invites someone, it is accepted in the whole world as an official opposition».
