«According to socio-economic data on the development in Ukraine in 2006, Zhytomyr oblast occupies one from the bottom place in the list of oblasts. But Zhytomyr oblast has a potential tom improve its results» – the head of Zhytomyr oblast state administration Yuri Pavlenko said at a press conference.

According to him, it will be hard to solve everyday socio-economic problems if we don’t unite the efforts of all power branches and involve qualified experts.

A special committee composed of the cabinet representatives and the Secretariat members is working in the oblast.

Mr. Pavlenko considers it rather possible to improve the parameters of Zhytomyr oblast development. «We have all the potential to realize this purpose, including staff, resources, economical base and geographical position. Representatives of all power branches just have to forget about their ambition and focus themselves on the most important tasks of the oblast. For example, they should create conditions for investments, favor development of small and medium business, eliminate corruption from different spheres of life». – The governor said.
