«On the Reunion Day, people laid flowers to the Memorial of Ukrainian Galician Army and the tomb of the president of the Western Ukrainian People’s Republic Yevhen Petrushevych, the prime minister of the ZUNR Kost Levystkyi and other participants of national salvation movement» – the deputy head of Lviv oblast state administration Taras Batenko told the Razom site.
According to him, the Reunion Day is an important and symbolic date for Galician people. «We had been struggling for consolidation for years and at least the idea has been realized by respective acts. But the question was still up-to-date in the years to come. We could remember the Unity Act 1990 when Vyacheslav Chornovil, People’s Movement of Ukraine, Helsinki Union and other political parties united Ukraine organized a human chain from Kyiv to Lviv» – Taras Batenko noted.
»There is a lot of memorable and personal. This is a reason to remember the days of struggle for the unity of Ukraine, honor the memory of national heroes, light up a candle near their tombs» – he remarked.
