The Reunion Day has an extreme importance nowadays. It happened that politicians used and hyperbolized ethnographic differences of different oblasts of Ukraine in order to come to power. They were trying to have more votes on the wave of lack of respect of some regions towards others. That’s what MP, a member of the Our Ukraine faction Ihor Yukhnovskyi told the Razom site.

»All oblasts of Ukraine were different, occupied by different states in different times and as a result the mentality is different. Regardless these differences, two parts of Ukraine united into one state. People understood that it was worth sacrificing their interests for the sake of unity – Ihor Yukhnovskyi stressed. – Today we do have an absurd cabinet law, absurd constitutional changes that in fact transformed Ukraine not into a parliamentary-presidential republic, but into an oligarchic republic. This day is up-to-date as an example of a wise political decision. The Reunion Day has a very symbolic importance, it is a day of solidarity of the whole nation, of all Ukrainian people».
